FAN’s Amy Gregory and Andrea Somers have asked (and heard) the question plenty of times when speaking to industry groups: “By a show of hands, how many of you dreamed of working in title insurance as a kid?” The answer is almost always the same. Like most of us, the people asking it didn’t plan on building careers here, either. We found our way in, grew to understand what this work actually means for the people we serve, and built something worth being proud of.
That’s why we’re proud Amy and Andrea are representing FAN and NTS in the Spring 2026 DC Land Title Association newsletter, where their piece, “Building a Resilient Title Workforce,” addresses something many of us already feel but don’t always say out loud: the industry’s most pressing talent challenge is an exposure problem, not a hiring problem. Most students and early-career professionals have never heard of title insurance, let alone thought about what a career in it could look like.
Amy and Andrea write about mentorship that creates real connection and a clearer path forward, storytelling that leads with impact rather than industry terminology, and the kind of small, local engagement that tends to produce results no job board ever will. They’ve brought on three recent high school graduates over the past three years, none of whom had considered the industry before being introduced to it. Those are the moments that compound.
The piece also reminds us that younger professionals bring real strengths to this work. Comfort with digital tools, adaptability, and an orientation toward purpose-driven environments are exactly what a modernizing title operation needs. Now, we need to raise the awareness of this need.
We’d encourage anyone in the industry to spend a few minutes with this article. The full Spring 2026 DCLTA newsletter is available here, with the workforce piece on page 5.
